Crystal Jade Shanghai Delight

Whenever we are in the Greenhills area, Crystal Jade is always a temptation because of their glorious Xiao Long Bao
My hubby will always choose Jade as having the best Xiao Long Bao in Manila :)

So here comes the phalanx of this soupy dumpling-- steamed fresh, the skin is not too thick and not too thin, the level of meat and the clarity of soup is well-balanced  :)

Seafood Fried Rice--- nothing extraordinary , but oh well we came here for the Xiao Long Bao

My personal favorite-- Noodle with Spicy Chicken- the cold noodle is a perfect accompaniment to the Spicy almost like  Hainanese Chicken with lots of Chili. When you mix them together and they start to roll in your mouth--- HAPPINESS

The Taro Pastry Puff is the perfect sweet ending Chinese style --- and this comes free when you charge your bill through BDO  :) hehe GOOD DEAL

It's a 5 out 5 for Crystal Jade because they have the best Xiao Long Bao and the best Noodle with Spicy Chicken :)

Hanamaruken

Hanamaruken by far is the only Ramen House I'd crave to go back and back and back....

I wish I was able to visit one of their branches in Osaka

Since my boys were not so hungry for the ginormous Spare Rib of the Signature Happiness Ramen, they opted for the Spare Rib Ramen which has the same shoyu and tonkutsu broth only that this has thin slices and a smaller version of the Spare Rib that's not too overwhelming for one person

Their Aji Tamago is love for me.. I wouldn't mind paying P50 for this

AND THIS.. THE STAR... The best Ebi Tempura amongst all Japanese Restaurants I've tried in my entire life-- who would have thought I will find the perfect Tempura in a Ramen House haha :)
The gigantic Tiger Prawns were lightly battered, not oily , succulent, firm --and yes ohhhh sooo yummy!!!

The Signature Ramen should always be in the TO-ORDER list for first timers...
Gyoza at P150 which is the traditional Japanese sidedish for the Ramen
They also serve Soba and Chinese inspired noodles
Prawn Tempura for only P380-- the best deal ever!
Hanamaruken's noodles are firm in texture, ultra thin but not soggy. For me, they have the best tasting noodles (NO cardboardy taste here) fresh without overpowering the broth

My boys were definitely happy with their respective bowl of Sparerib Ramen

Yes! Hanamaruken is our favorite Ramen House , therefore it's a 5 out of 5 :)

Izakaya Kikufuji In Little Tokyo

Izakaya is one of the many Japanese Restaurants nestled in a block called Little Tokyo in Makati

On a Sunday --11:30am is already fully packed :p  I suggest you make a reservation to avoid the long queue. The receptionist informed me that reservation on weekends must be at least two weeks ahead of your desired date to be accommodated :)
This must be a good sign since my waiting list number happens to be my favorite :)  Mind you, about 10minutes waiting ---the number given was already in the 20s --whoaaaaa

In action...
Preparing Sushi, Sashimi and frying Tempura
They have Japanese Style Dining area

My hungry boys :p

Misho Shiru
I opted for the Miso Soup since I already ate Churros from Legaspi Market en route hehe
Ebi Tempura
Of course I have to try their Tempura .. succulent yes, crispy yes but isn't as good as Hannamaruken's

Kyuten Mori -Assorted Sashimi
Salmon, Tuna, Lobster, Scallop, Mackerel, Uni...
The taste is as good as this lovely photo :)
The freshest Uni by far...

My boys ordered Gyu Steak-- Unfortunately we have to cancel after an hour of waiting :( the busy kitchen forgot our order --sigh tsk tsk minus points

But oh well-- by the look of my boys -- the Sashimi is more than enough reason for us to come back :)

We would have given Izakaya 3 but the Kyuten Mori is so heavenly it's so worth the trip to Makati. So it's a 4out of 5 for Izakaya Kikufuji :)

What to Buy in San Miguel Bulacan : A Foodie Adventure

San Miguel Bulacan is around 30-40minute drive from Baliuag. On holidays like yesterday July17 (Happy Eid Mubarak to our Muslim friends!) I badly crave for my guilt pleasures, so I  forced (too strong a word haha) my hubby to drive me to San Miguel albeit the pouring rain due to Habagat-- and he dutifully conceded :p hehe

My all time favorite in San Miguel is this unassuming bakery
The heavenly Biscocho is just so good with a cup of tea
Banana Cake for only P10 each
Leche Flan and Sans Rival
This perfect Ensaymada..I sooo Love!!!
Egg Tart
Chicharon and other Pasalubong
Chicken and Pimiento Spread is always a staple in my pantry. This so delicious and very convenient when I'm pressed for time as sandwich spread for Mikko's school snacks.
The owner Ate Liza, was there when I visited and she gave this new product-- Chocolate Mousse for me to try
I was never into the new era of doughnut as I will always be a forever fan of Dunkin Donuts' s Chocolate Frosted Cake and Chocolate Butternut... but when they asked me to try--- I WAS A CONVERT RIGHT THAT VERY SECOND
These Almond Doughnuts were way better for my taste buds than J.CO, Krispy Kreme or Cello's... I can eat this everyday..even my son loved it to bits!
I love Philzon's Classic Chiffon Cake.. the rich sponge cake brings back great memories of my  Lola Coning (mother's side) who absolutely loves springy Sponge Cakes for Merienda Cena
good deal Ensaymada at P6.00 each

Pastillas of course is known in San Miguel.. and the best is the Sevilla's
Macapuno Balls
Tamarind Candies

Taba ng Talangka
Fresh Kesong Puti
Latik

Got curious with this Carinderia...
Sinampalukang Tagalog na Manok
Kalderetang Bibe --a must try
Tinumis na  Baboy
It was so worth the trip amidst strong Habagat downpour.. See you again San Miguel!
