I have always and will forever love Churros. It is my guilty pleasure and my go-to food on low biorhythm days. That being said, I decided to make my own take on the best Churros in Manila
Battle: Churros
Dulcinea introduced me to this love affair ... Dulcinea is like Colgate= Toothpaste or Xerox=Photocopy for me :) |
Size is average hand size, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.. |
Dunk to this perfectly blended Tsokolate.. |
This is definitely my no-brainer definition of a perfect upper.. Price P98.00 plus tax |
and here comes La Lola Chucherria... |
Unlike Dulcinea's ribbon shaped Churros, theirs are candle shape and are way bigger.. |
you can actually see them frying your while you wait as they have an open kitchen |
Extra large size, crisp and soft on the inside--the taste is akin to being transported to another dimension :) Price for Classic Churros Medium P110 (6pcs) Large P195 (12pcs) X-Large P275 (18pcs) the Hot chocolate Dip unlike Dulcinea's is NOT FREE.. So you get to choose the sizes of your dip Medium P60 Large P100 and X-Large P130 |
Don Churros in Legaspi Sunday Market.. |
Both Don Churros and La Lola have the same Churros Shape.. but Don Churros texture is more gooey ..as gooey and thick as their Chocolate dip. But for P150pesos at 6pcs with free chocolate dip and gigantic at that-- it can satiate ones craving :) |
Who won this battle? It takes a lot of dissecting actually hehe ... but perhaps albeit the more expensive price.. I'd choose La Lola since it has all the elements of the perfect Churros for me :) bigger size, crisp but oh soo soft dough, no greasy after taste at least when eaten immediately. Don't get me wrong though-- Any day I'd still visit Dulcinea for my Churros con Tsokolate fix or make a quick buy at Don Churros when I'm in the Makati area at any given Sunday |
